Welcome to Podmore!

We, the members of the Podmore Foundation, are committed to returning opportunity to young people who may need mentors and role models as well as financial support.

We are assisting with Projects in two of Australia's most pressing and near-region challenges - uplifting Indigenous communities and supporting a peaceful future for Timor-Leste (East Timor).  There is a need to educate young people to create better futures for their communities.

We are encouraging and financially supporting three specially-selected, aspiring and talented indigenous Australian kids as they enter Year 9 at three of the nation’s most prestigious boarding schools.  We look to them to be role models and leaders of the future, supported by strong alumni networks.

In Timor-Leste, we are supporting a dedicated Australian community development worker in Ermera, we are financially supporting 18 children at Hope orphanage in Gleno with their secondary education and four young disabled men at Ahisaun Community in Dili with tertiary studies.  We look to them to apply their education to their nation’s future.

We are calling on all those who are also grateful for the opportunities they have received to give a hand-up to young indigenous Australians and to disadvantaged young people in Timor-Leste.  This is a chance to return opportunity and to make a difference.

  • The Podmore Foundation is open to everyone who shares our vision to return some of the opportunities that they have received to help people, families and communities needing support to realise their full potential.  Nevertheless, for those who may be interested, the founders share an interesting heritage where the nation gave them an opportunity to excel when they were young; namely through entry into the Royal Military College at Duntroon.
  • The Podmore Foundation was established in 2007 by a number of members and former members of the Class who entered the Royal Military College of Australia (RMC-A), Duntroon in 1970 and graduated in 1973 or went on to other careers in Defence and/or the public or private sectors.
  • The Foundation was established as a vehicle for them, and other like minded individuals and entities, to put something back into the community - local and international - in gratitude for the opportunities they experienced.
  • Membership of the Podmore Foundation is open to all members of the public.  Donations are sought and accepted from all individuals and organisations supportive of the aims of the Foundation.
  • In particular, the steering committee and the inaugural membership wanted to place a focus on assisting young people, families and communities to reach their full potential through gifts, scholarships, bursaries, prizes, programs, projects or specific grants; as well as managing funds for other charitable activities.
  • The Foundation actively seeks partners to work with to achieve their aims.
  • Current Projects and Partnerships are summarised under the Projects menu heading.
  • The Board of Management also distributes updates during the year and progress on activities can be monitored through the Newsletters menu heading.
  • Although an initiative by some members and former members of the Duntroon Class of 73, membership of the Podmore Foundation (including voting rights) is open to all persons who support the objects and purpose of the Foundation, agree to be bound by the rules of the Foundation for the time being in force, pay the annual subscription (currently $50.00) and provide contact name and details.
  • Applications to join the Foundation can be found on the Membership page.
